SUMMER VOLUNTEER & SERVICE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH WITH KIDS VOTING

Do you need service hours for school or the Mayor’s Award?  Are you a high school student who is interested in having more youth voice in local government? Are there issues in Durham that you think are important that youth can impact?   Do you have good writing skills and do you like talking with elected officials and other decision-makers?

Kids Voting Durham is looking for youth volunteers to help us prepare for the Fall City Council and Mayor elections for K-12 students.  Projects will include updating information in the KVD Youth Candidate Guide that is used by thousands of students and adults each year, surveying youth on city issues that are important to them, and possibly making some short candidate information pieces including videos.

Hours are flexible and much of the work can be done off-site.  Kids Voting can verify hours for school service requirements, the Mayor’s Award, and for other volunteer programs.

Contact Carolyn Kreuger, Kids Voting Durham, carolyn@kidsvotingdurham.org , 919-560-7321 for more information or to express interest.
